Mermaid Maritime Public Company Limited ("MMPLC") was formed in 1982 by a group of Danish marine professionals operating in Thailand at that time. The Danish fairy tale figure, The Little Mermaid, was chosen as the Company's logo to illustrate our commitment to serving the people working at sea, which remains the mission of Mermaid Maritime.

In 1982 the Company introduced to Thailand the first internationally approved life raft service station, which was established in a small workshop in Bangna, just south of Bangkok. Authorization to service Viking life rafts came first, and was soon followed by authorization by most of the other major life raft manufacturers.

In 1997 the company established a branch near the offshore service port at Songkhla, close to the Malaysian border. This allowed the Company to perform its services all across Thailand in a timely and efficient manner.

Through recent years, several Company Divisions and Subsidiaries have been established to compliment a truly extensive range of maritime services. From modest beginnings in a small Bangkok workshop, with only a handful of employees, the Company now employs some 150 people and has an estimated consolidated turnover in fiscal year 2002 of over 450 million Baht.

The Company continues to faithfully serve its broad client base of international and local companies operating within the civil engineering, merchant shipping and offshore sectors of Thailand.
