Sharjah's
main port is Port Khalid located in
the commercial hearth of Sharjah city,
approximately 18 km from Dubai city.
Port Khalid is operating with 13 deepwater
berth facilities, and handles a wide
variety of tonnage ranging from ro-ro
ships, pure car carriers, reefer ships,
bulk carriers to traditional dhows.
Port Khalid's ideal location and infrastructure
makes it an ideal port from which to
service both national and international
transshipment cargoes.
The recent substantial onshore and offshore gas finds have further prompted Sharjah to invest in its industrial base with the establishment of Hamriyah Free Zone and Hamriyah Port. Hamriyah Port is now being developed as a multi-purpose port. The Sharjah Hamriyah Port which is located at distance of 20 KM from Sharjah Port is now being developed as a multi-purpose port. With a draft of 15 meters, the port can accommodate some of the largest vessels in the world. Hamriyah Port have a large cargo storage area to store more than 250,000 cbm cargo at open yards and two covered sheds. |
