Our Transport Group includes the dry bulk shipping business, petroleum tankering business, as well as shipping services businesses which include ship agency and ship brokerage.

Dry Bulk Shipping Business

As one of Thailand’s largest owners of Handysize, Handymax, and Supramax dry bulk vessels, our dry bulk shipping company services all reaches of the globe. Our owned vessels range in size from 16,211 to 54,123 deadweight tonnes and carry a broad range of major and minor bulk cargoes, including iron ore, coal, grains, cement, fertilisers, steel products, and forest products.

Currently, Thoresen’s fleet comprises of twenty-nine dry bulk vessels. These ships provide tramp services with no fixed schedules according to the individual requirements of Thoresen’s clients. The tramp services are operated under contracts of affreightment, time charter trip, and period time charters. In addition to the own fleet, Thoresen also operates the number of chartered in vessels in order to ensure our customers needs are met.

Petroleum Tankering Business

In April 2010, Thoresen Thai Agencies Plc. acquired 38 % shares of Petrolift, Inc., a leading Philippines petroleum tanker company. Incorporated in 1992, Petrolift is an accredited tankering services contractor for the major oil companies in the Philippines. It owns and operates a fleet of nine petroleum tankers/barges and one liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker. The fleet has a total capacity of about 30 million litres transporting fuel such as petroleum, ethanol, and LPG products to all major ports/depots in the Philippines.

Shipping Services Businesses

Our shipping services companies provide and offer general ship agency capabilities in Thailand, Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia, and a worldwide ship brokerage service with offices throughout the region. Our clients include major dry bulk, container vessel owners and operators, trading companies, and logistics companies.

Ship Agency

We are the largest ship agency group in Thailand, handling vessels of every industry type. Our ship agency business is undertaken by four companies, including ISS Thoresen Agencies Ltd. (“ITA”), Gulf Agency Company (Thailand) Ltd. (“GAC”), Thoresen (Indochina) S.A. (“TI”), and PT Peruashaan Pelayaran Equinox (“Equinox”).

These four companies provide traditional ship agency services: port clearance, berthing, loading and discharging, cargo booking, supplying fuel, water, stores, vessel repairs, and crew changes.

Ship Brokerage

Fearnleys (Thailand) Ltd. (“FTL”) is a joint venture between Fearnleys A/S and TTA. Fearnleys is one of the largest ship broking companies in the world with activities in dry cargo, sale & purchase, tanker gas, offshore and consultancy. We provide services to Thai and foreign companies in marketing their respective vessels and cargo. FTL’s main focus is cargo in the Southeast Asian sector with a special emphasis on business originating in Thailand and includes coal, rice, cement, cement clinker, tapioca, steel, and agricultural products. We deal in cargoes and vessels of all sizes from small liner lots up to Panamax vessels.

Middle East Operations

Thoresen Shipping FZE (“TSF”) was established to act as the Group’s regional office in Middle East. TSF provides cost effective cargo operations on vessels calling in the United Arab Emirates (“UAE”) and other ports in the Middle East.

TSF attends to more than 100 vessels in the UAE per year and coordinates the operation of a similar number of vessels in other Arabian Gulf ports. TSF has developed a special expertise in customs and cargo clearance and has executed over 3,000 cargo delivery jobs to customers in the UAE, Oman, and other nearby destinations.
