TTA Reinforces No. 1 Global TCE Ranking with M.V. Thor Dan Siam, Expanding Fleet to 25 Vessels
Bangkok – August 20, 2026 – Thoresen Shipping, the dry bulk shipping business of Thoresen Thai Agencies Public Company Limited (TTA), continues to reinforce its leadership in fleet management after being ranked No. 1 globally for Time Charter Equivalent (TCE) performance and remaining the only company to rank among the global Top 5 for eight consecutive years. Most recently, Thoresen Shipping acquired “M.V. Thor Dan Siam,” a Handysize dry bulk carrier built in 2016, with a carrying capacity of 34,407 deadweight tonnes (DWT) and an age of approximately 9.7 years. The acquisition marks the second vessel added to Thoresen Shipping’s fleet in 2026, following the acquisition of M.V. Thor Phra Samut, an Ultramax dry bulk carrier that joined the fleet in July.
The addition of two vessels in the same year underscores Thoresen Shipping’s fleet management strategy, which focuses on achieving an optimal balance of vessel size, flexibility, and operational efficiency. With a diversified fleet spanning Handysize, Supramax, and Ultramax vessels, the company is able to enhance deployment flexibility across different cargo types, trading routes, and port restrictions. This further reinforces Thoresen Shipping’s position as one of the world’s leading dry bulk operators and its No. 1 global ranking in fleet operating performance in 2025. This strong fleet management capability is also reflected in the Shipping Group’s performance during the first six months of 2026, when it achieved an average TCE of US$16,614 per vessel per day, 14% above the net Supramax market rate, demonstrating its continued ability to manage its fleet efficiently and generate returns above market benchmarks.
Following the latest acquisition, Thoresen Shipping’s owned fleet now comprises 25 vessels, including 21 Supramax, 3 Ultramax and 1 Handysize vessel, with a combined carrying capacity of 1,390,666 DWT. The fleet has an average carrying capacity of 55,627 DWT and an average age of 16.9 years.
